New from Local Authors

ABC Catalog

Doug Gibson, Asheville based journalist and author of books for young people, presents his annual round up of new and forthcoming books by local authors for kids and young adults. Keep scrolling down for the list of books plus Doug's comments and buy buttons to order from Spellbound Bookshop. You can go ahead and pre-order books that are not yet published and have them delivered or ready for store pick-up on release day. Pre-orders are also a great way to help make sure a book's first week sales are robust, which can be important to your favorite author's overall sales and success. We report all sales, including pre-orders, to the New York Times, Book Scan, and Indiebound bestsellers lists.

For the past few years, I've had the pleasure of putting together a preview of upcoming releases by Asheville's community of middle grade and young adult authors for the Mountain Xpress.

The Xpress didn't have space this year, but here is a list of 2018 releases, including some that have already come out and one coming out next year. This may or may not be a complete list: feel free to contact me via this website if you know of a title that needs to be added. And once again, it's an incredible honor to live among so many talented kidlit writers. I can't wait to see what 2019 has in store!  - Doug Gibson
